We talked to Rev. Floyd D. Harris Jr this morning and he says that there will be representatives from the National Network in Action, the Oscar Grant Foundation as well as Vallejo Cop Watch. He says that residents attending tonight's workshop will learn about their civil rights not only if they are the victim of police harassment or brutality. They will also learn about what their rights are when they observe such actions. Additionally, Harris says that folks will get tips about filing complaints with the Vallejo Police Department. Vallejo Cop Watch has created a blog where you can follow media coverage and other activities related to the organization.

The hypocrisy of Marc Garman, VIB Editor, couldn't be any greater.
ReplyDeleteNow that VIB has endorsed Tony Intintoli for County Supervisor of District 1, they know that without a substantial Black vote Intintoli will lose.
They also know that historically, more people, especially Blacks vote in National elections such as our upcoming Presidential election.
Hence the sudden cozying up to them by the notoriously racist Garman and his VIB politician cronies.
But there is one very important fact that Garman has omitted and that is his shooting and killing of a Black man in San Francisco in the early 1990's.
Garman's sudden defense of the Black community of Vallejo, including the family of Mario Romero, for what some of them believe is a string of unjustified killings of young Black men by the Vallejo Police Department is the equivalent of Garman being on a jury for the trial of a Black man who killed a cop. But no Judge or defense Attorney would ever permit that to occur.
Garman's transparent gesture to the Vallejo Black community is one of outright manipulation.
I wonder what would have happened to Garman at Mario Romero's funeral, where Garman was allowed inside to videotape the event, if suddenly it was found out that he had killed a Black man.
I wonder what will happen now that all of Vallejo, including the Black community has been made aware of this

ReplyDelete1301 oakwood avenue police gave walkie-talkies to neighbors and consented to neighbors use of threats and violent verbal abuse. It's gone too far: watching us inside home at over two weeks consistent watching his included describing what we're doing while we're naked. Alright tivities involving the grocery store and going to work are harassed and before we arrive people are told things that are personal and reputation destroying. it's not just super creepy.. it is almost unprovable and the damage caused by this tactic is unrepairable in business and living situation.
